Minaa B. is a licensed social worker, speaker, writer and author of the book Rivers Are Coming.
She is a major mental health advocate who takes in pride in self-care and shares tips and gems on her mantra filled Instagram account: @minaa_b.
In this episode, Minaa shares a wonderful mix of personal stories and practical tips for taking good care of ourselves and our mental health, including how to find the right-fit therapist and how to overcome some of most common barriers to mental health treatment. She also gives great advice on how to practice self-care at work, particularly if you don't work from home.
One of the parts of this conversation I appreciated the most was about friendships and mental health, and how our friends are not our therapists (and shouldn't be expected to fill that role). Minaa also talks about the importance of thinking beyond self-care to community care, and how healing is in fact a social justice issue.
I so enjoyed getting to know Minaa and learning from her in this episode, and I hope you do as well!
