Teeny Lamothe is a pie baker, founder of Teeny Pies, and author of the cookbook Teeny’s Tour of Pie, which details her vagabond pie journey and offers over 60 delicious pie recipes.
Born and raised in Littleton, Colorado, Teeny grew up making pie alongside her mom. After college she spent five years as a working actor in Chicago, and in the fall of 2011, after rediscovering her love for all things pie, Teeny left Chicago and spent a year apprenticing under lady bakers at different pie shops across the United States.
In 2013 she started Teeny Pies, a handmade seasonal pie company based in Washington, D.C., where she sold her signature pies at farmer’s markets, coffee shops, and local restaurants. Recently, Teeny has relocated her pie business to Cincinnati, OH, with the hope of opening her first brick and mortar pie shop sometime in 2017.
In this episode, Teeny shares stories from her year-long apprenticeship in pie shops across America, telling us what she learned about baking and business along the way. We talk about being vulnerable, trying new things, tips for baking the perfect pie at home, and more. She even shares the delightful story of how she got surprise married, and unknowingly baked her own wedding pies.
I hope you enjoy!
